Brief

Beyond the Classroom is a child enrichment center that offers creative, play-based programs designed to nurture curiosity, imagination, and growth. The previous website had several technical bugs, lacked cohesive branding, and did not effectively convey the energy and experience of the program. The goal of the redesign was to create a site that is vibrant, easy to navigate, and reflective of the joyful, hands-on learning environment the center provides.

Audience 

The primary audience is parents and caregivers seeking enriching, out-of-school programs that prioritize creativity, exploration, and holistic child development. These families value learning experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom settings and are looking for safe, engaging environments where their children can thrive through guided play, social interaction, and imaginative curriculum.

Opportunity

There was a clear opportunity to revamp the brand's online presence by addressing usability issues, unifying the visual identity, and highlighting the playful, experiential nature of the program. By designing a more user-friendly and emotionally resonant website, the goal was to build trust with families, drive enrollment, and clearly communicate the center’s philosophy of learning through play and exploration.

Concept

The core concept behind the Beyond the Classroom website redesign was to create a digital space that mirrors the joyful, imaginative, and exploratory spirit of the enrichment programs. The goal was to bring the magic of hands-on learning and guided play to life online — making it clear to families that this is a space where children can grow, create, and thrive beyond the confines of a traditional classroom.

Design

The visual design draws from a playful, nature-inspired palette of greens, oranges, and yellows — evoking feelings of warmth, creativity, and energy. These colors were chosen to reflect the natural curiosity of childhood and to make the site feel inviting and lively. 

Voice

The tone of the website is warm, encouraging, and wonder-filled — just like the programs it represents. The copy speaks directly to families with language that emphasizes imagination, exploration, and connection. It’s designed to feel personal and reassuring, inspiring parents to see Beyond the Classroom as a trusted partner in their child’s development and joy.

The Logo

This hand-drawn tree logo reflects Beyond the Classroom’s child-first approach and emphasis on learning through play and experience. Designed with inspiration from children's art, the organic lines and whimsical elements—birds, music notes, and cooking icons—capture the school’s interdisciplinary philosophy. The tree serves as a visual anchor, symbolizing growth, creativity, and connection beyond traditional classroom walls.


Color Palette

Rooted in nature, this palette features playful greens, warm oranges, and bright yellows to reflect a learning environment inspired by the outdoors. Shades like Leaflet, Playgreen, and Sage evoke growth and exploration, while Orango and Sunnlet bring warmth and energy, mirroring the joy of hands-on discovery. Together, these colors reinforce the school’s philosophy of learning through nature, creativity, and outdoor play.

Translating Identity into Intuitive Design

This website was designed to reflect Beyond the Classroom’s nature-based, child-first philosophy through vibrant visuals and intuitive user flow. Imagery of children playing outdoors, combined with organic shapes, hand-drawn elements, and a warm, earthy color palette, brings the program’s hands-on approach to life—adding a playful, approachable tone rooted in children’s creativity.

Clear CTAs and a fully responsive layout ensure a seamless experience across devices, making it easy for families to explore, connect, and take action. The result is a digital space that feels joyful, engaging, and true to the values of learning beyond classroom walls.

Bringing the Brand to Social 

These social media posts were designed to visually extend the Beyond the Classroom brand across digital platforms. Using playful typography, bold colors from the core palette, and imagery of children in nature, each post reinforces the school’s philosophy of learning through exploration and hands-on experiences. The content highlights key messages—like curiosity, play, and discovery—while maintaining visual consistency and an approachable, child-centered tone.
